JELLY
Karelian Bear Dog mix | male | 3 years old | 45 lbs

My Story
Jelly came to the public shelter in Yongin (South Korea) at the beginning of March 2020. He has been here for a little bit over a year and has yet to find his forever family. Jelly is a charming and shy boy who loves people once he trusts them. He is good with other dogs and very food motivated.
My Personality
Despite Jelly having spent a good deal of time in a shelter environment, he is housebroken and crate trained and has adapted to life in a home quickly! Jelly is active and excitable and is currently learning leash skills. He bonds quickly with other dogs and has a strong 'pack drive', meaning he may cry if another dog leaves the home without him and may pick up and mirror emotions/behaviors of other dogs in his 'pack'.
Jelly has not been kid-tested. He has been tested with cats and was too excited for a proper introduction, but because he has shown a high prey drive outdoors with other small animals, a home without cats would be best for him.
The ideal family for Jelly is one that can be patient and commit to training him so he can continue to build confidence and enjoy life to the fullest!
Notes from the foster:
“Jelly is a sweet and playful dog who is looking for his forever home! Jelly knows basic commands such as sit, stay, heel and down. He is also crate trained and has no problems being left alone in the crate. Jelly would do well in a family that is willing to maintain the training and structure currently in place.
Jelly would be a great companion for adventures such as the beach or a long hike. He likes sticks and playing in water! Jelly can easily keep up on a long hike but is also happy snoozing during work meetings.
It takes time for Jelly to warm up to people and would benefit from a family that can help advocate for his space. He is shy but does well with slow introductions to strangers.
Jelly gets along well with other dogs and is respectful of other dogs' space. While Jelly is good with dogs, he does have a strong prey drive and chases smaller animals. Overall, Jelly is a very smart and joyful pup and would love to find his forever home!”
